I took a look at my trip log from some riding I was doing last summer in the Rocky mountains. I rode from Saskatchewan River Crossing to Jasper, a distance of 155 KM. I also rode a few more KM on a side road near Athabasca Falls. Just as I pulled up the gas station in Jasper I needed to switch to reserve, so it went about 160 KM or so before hitting reserve.
I've worked out the mileage and find that my bike gets about 50 mpg city (~20 km/liter) and about 55 highway, so maybe on some models of the Savage the level of the main intake for fuel is set to a different level?
